It’s a first-of-its-kind deal!
Renegade Golf was founded in 2019 by Kenneth Duncan and Drew McLeod with the goal of making the game of golf more inclusive and diverse, AfroTech reports. Duncan, an avid golfer, saw an opportunity to innovate in golf marketing and country club spaces, focusing the company’s efforts on creating products like golf bags that felt welcoming to newcomers to the sport.
“A bag can really show off your identity and who you are – like an art piece. Almost all our bags are customized because that’s how the PGA Tour players do it. You have your name, a logo, and something that represents you,” Duncan explained.
However, they didn’t just stop at bags. Renegade Golf crafts an array of products, from bags to balls and even tumblers, making the prices affordable and thus creating more accessibility in the golf space. The brand was a hit among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and several Black Greek Organizations. Now, the Black-owned golf equipment company has secured a distribution deal with PGA Tour Superstores.
Renegade Golf is the first Black-owned golf ball company and a disruptor in the golf equipment space. Its innovative, high-quality, performance-driven equipment appeals to golfers of all skill levels and aligns with PGA Tour Superstore’s mission of catering to a broader audience of golfers, The Golf Wire reports. The company’s Mbu golf balls will be available at PGA Superstores in Charlotte, Houston, and the company’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Renegade Golf is among the first Black-owned brands to sell within the PGA Tour Superstores, and the deal is aimed at expanding interest to an ever-growing demographic of new golfers who are more brand-conscious.
“This collaboration represents a significant step forward for Renegade Golf and diversity in the golf industry as a whole. We are thrilled to team up with PGA Tour Superstore, an organization that shares our values and commitment to excellence,” said Duncan.
