TELFAR FOREVERRRRRRRR!
Telfar is set to open its first-ever flagship store in New York City, Black Enterprise reports. Founder Telfar Clemens launched the brand in 2005, rising to become one of the most sought-after designers in the industry. The Black-owned brand became famous for its vegan leather handbags with its iconic “T” logo. The bags are regularly sold out when released, and the brand has done unforgettable collaborations with Ugg and Beyoncé and Clemens has even made unisex Olympic uniforms for Team Liberia. The new store will open this week in NYC’s SoHo area.
The brick-and-mortar store comes after a run of successful pop-ups. In 2022, after a pop-up at Rainbow in Downtown Brooklyn during New York Fashion Week, Clemens announced plans to open a store. Now, that dream is coming to life, and shoppers can purchase the signature bag dubbed the “Bushwick Birkin” year-round. The store will also feature an array of other Telfar bags and an in-store studio where shoppers can broadcast themselves on Telfar TV, the 24-hour streaming network Telfar uses to announce new releases.
Telfar announced the opening of its new store via social media, adding an RSVP link for interested attendees. Still, the brand stayed true to its personable marketing, reminding people not to all rush at once because there will be a minimum 2-hour wait and the weather will be “brick” outside. LOL.
“You don’t have to come to the opening. It will be open forever. What’s there? All shopping bags + carry bag + apparel. A secret new bag…you all been asking for…No Limit. Forever. As in take your time,” the brand captioned a social post.
The new Telfar store opens on November 23rd. Fans can also win a free bag by participating in an open mic contest.
