They took home the top title!
Texas Southern University Cheerleaders shut it down last week at this year’s National Cheerleaders Association Cheer Spirit Rally Division I Championship in Daytona Beach.
The Lady Tigers cheer team started the day with a performance score of 94.05, and finished the day with an overall performance score of 96.1, coming in first over Niagara University. With this win TSU’s cheerleading team is now the first HBCU to win a NCA National Championship.
Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at TSU, Dr. Kevin Granger, shared just how happy this feat made him saying, “Words can’t express how proud I am for our cheer team’s national championship. They’ve worked very hard for this moment over the past several months. To see the long hours they’ve dedicated come to fruition in the form of a national championship is amazing. I want to commend the coaching staff and team members for their efforts. This team has made history at Texas Southern and… TSU nation is proud of their accomplishments.”
Congratulations ladies and gentlemen! Keep that spirit high.
