There’s a new way to represent your HBCU with pride and sophistication.
TruBlu Legacy, a new online retailer launched in 2022, is offering a stylish twist on HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) paraphernalia. Founded by Kai Waller and her mother Rhonda Waller, along with Joslyn Jackson and her daughter Lauren Jackson–all Spelman College graduates–the boutique caters to those who want to celebrate their HBCU pride with high-quality accessories.
According to their website, TruBlu Legacy offers handbags, scarves, and ties that pay homage to HBCU traditions with intricate designs. The brand name itself is a tribute to Spelman’s colors and the concept of “True Blue” sisterhood. Each product incorporates details specific to the featured HBCU, creating a sense of exclusivity for alumni and fans.
Currently, TruBlu Legacy offers products representing Spelman College, Morehouse College, Howard University, and Tuskegee University. They plan to expand their offerings to include Clark Atlanta University, Florida A&M University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Tennessee State University by Fall 2024.
TruBlu Legacy aims to create HBCU accessories that transcend the typical college merchandise. “Our products are intended to be appropriate in professional and fashionable settings,” said co-founder Rhonda Waller in a statement shared with Because of Them We Can.
TruBlu Legacy accessories are available for purchase on their website, trublulegacy.com.
