She has more than 100 grandchildren!
Edna Beaty has had a remarkable life. Born 100 years ago on June 4, 1923, she’s a national treasure in the community of Corpus Christi, Texas, KIII+ reports. Beaty’s daughter spoke to reporters about her mother’s 100th anniversary around the sun, telling people she has a huge family who all love and adore her.
“It’s so amazing to see how far she’s come. She’s a good grandma, great grandma, mom, aunt, and great aunt. She’s just been there for everybody,” she said.
And after 100 years of showing up, the community decided to show up for her, with family, friends, and church members all showing up at Calvary First Baptist Church for her centenarian celebration!
Beaty is the church’s oldest living member and spent her life serving as a nurse and beautician. Now that she has a century of wisdom behind her, Beaty’s reflecting on her life, saying she feels great and pretty much the same as she’s always felt.
“[I felt] the same way I felt when I was 90, 91, I don’t feel no different. I have been waiting for this and they act like 100-year-old is some kind of thing, but I don’t feel no different,” Beaty told reporters.
