Basketball, beats, and now, big financial wins!

LSU basketball player Flau’jae Johnson is proving once again that she’s a powerhouse on and off the court. The rising star has now partnered with Experian to help eliminate $5 million in consumer debt for Louisiana families, Complex reports. As part of the initiative, announced on March 14th, Johnson will serve as a spokesperson for Experian’s latest campaign, which aims to relieve financial burdens for 5,000 families in the state.

“You know what’s bigger than basketball? Financial empowerment. Finances are tough, and Experian is helping the next generation pursue their dreams,” Johnson says in a newly released commercial.

At just 20 years old, Johnson has already built an impressive legacy—both as LSU’s leading scorer and as a rapper signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation record label. But beyond her athletic and musical talent, the junior business major understands the importance of financial literacy and is using her platform to spread the message.

“It’s hard to create a winning financial game plan when you are blocked by debt,” Johnson said in a press release. “I am excited to partner with Experian to empower families in the state and across the country so they can become financial champions of their future.”

Experian’s initiative comes at a critical time, as reports show consumer debt reaching all-time highs. “Unmanageable debt prevents consumers from achieving their goals,” said Dacy Yee, president of Experian Consumer Services. “We hope this debt relief and access to Experian tools will help beneficiaries in Louisiana move toward a healthier financial future.”

The announcement lands just days before the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, where Johnson is expected to return to the court after recovering from an injury. This isn’t her first time in the spotlight for her business savvy, Johnson previously went viral after posting on social media about purchasing her first piece of land with the hopes of building generational wealth.

“BLESSINGS BLESSINGS BLESSINGS. Y’all I’m only 20 years old and just closed on my first piece of land!! WATCH WHAT I DO. I GOT ACRESSS BABYYYYY. This means so much to me being a young Black woman continuing to beat the odds!! I’m starting to create generational wealth for my family and I couldn’t be more excited,” wrote Johnson.

A star with the LSU Tigers, she helped lead the team to a national championship in 2023 and has continued to dominate on and off the court throughout her collegiate journey. Now, she is working to uplift her community, one opportunity at a time.  To learn more information about Experian’s debt relief initiative, visit www.experian.com/relief.
