She’s taking care of her own!
Megan Thee Stallion recently announced an emergency power program in her city of Houston. The recent Hurricane Beryl has left many in the city suffering without power as they try to recover from billions in damage. In Houston alone, 2.7 million residents were left without power, and the soaring summer temperatures resulted in six heat-related deaths, US Weekly Magazine reports. With thousands still suffering more than a week after the devastating hurricane, the Houston hottie has stepped in to give back to her own, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Megan’s Pete and Thomas Foundation has now partnered with Bread of Life Inc. to launch an Emergency Power Program to provide generators to senior citizens impacted by electricity outages. The rapper founded the organization in 2022 to help women, children, and seniors from underserved communities.
Over the past two years, they have made a significant impact, helping more than 10,000 individuals. Their efforts include giving back around the holidays, supporting single mothers who were victims of domestic violence, and launching an Emergency Hardship Assistance Fund for those dealing with financial hardship. Bread of Life founder Rusy Rasmus says this is just the kind of support they need to help expand their efforts.
“We want to expand our support of the most vulnerable people in the city, and Hurricane Beryl, the derecho, and other storms have highlighted that our seniors are in dire need of assistance. Through our partnership with Megan Thee Stallion and her Pete and Thomas Foundation, we hope to provide generators to senior personal care homes this hurricane season,” explained Rasmus.
The goal is to distribute the generators to senior citizens in need in preparation for storms so that “there is no interruption in service” when power is lost. For Megan, after seeing the devastating impact, it felt like a no-brainer to step in and help as much as she could.
“It’s been painful to watch the elderly population in Houston suffer without electricity during these devastating storms. That’s why we wanted to partner with Bread of Life to take a strategic approach to this problem and secure generators to help protect our senior citizens. We need to do our part to provide our elders with the best resources possible to withstand future emergencies,” Megan said via statement.
