He’s bringing good luck on and off the field!
The Washington Commanders’ star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, is having an amazing rookie season, leading the team to its first playoff win in 20 years. But even with the impressive run, Daniels is still making time to shine off the field and give back to others in a big way. Recently, Daniels went with the other rookies to visit Children’s Hospital Center patients. There, he met Commanders fan Sarah Addison, who was being treated for myeloid leukemia. Daniels said the two instantly connected.
“She was super excited to see me and gave me a hug. We kind of hit it off from there,” said Daniels.
Addison agreed, saying she’s a huge Daniels fan, and the visit was just the pick-me-up she needed before the holidays.
“I was screaming before he got through the door. I forgot I was in the hospital room. I forgot I had cancer. It was a dream come true,” said Addison.
But the surprises didn’t stop there. Six days later, Daniels Facetimed Addison to grant her Christmas wish of attending a game, gifting her with field passes and tickets to the Commanders’ game against the Atlanta Falcons. When she arrived, Daniels met her and her family on the sidelines, offering some encouraging words and gifting her with an autographed jersey.
“Obviously, what she is fighting through right now, you never want to see anybody go through that. You never know. It can make her whole year. It can give her motivation to keep fighting through her treatments,” said Daniels.
Addison said it was one of the best gifts she’d ever received. She explained that she feels a special connection to the Commanders’ team and calls Daniels the greatest of all time.
“When you in the hospital, it’s not a lot of things that you can do. It’s not a lot of things you can experience…He’s the GOAT. He’s the GOAT for making my dream come true,” said Addison.
