It’s the best gift of all!
3-year-old SaMiyah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was just one year old, 11 Alive reports. After receiving the news, her mother, LaTosha Fowler, went on an exhaustive search for a bone marrow match for her daughter just as she began her chemo treatments. Now, after two years, little SaMiyah has ended her fight against cancer just in time for the holidays.
Fowler, SaMiyah, family, and a team of doctors at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple, Texas, gathered just before the Thanksgiving holiday as SaMiyah rang the bell, signaling the end of her chemo treatments. An emotional moment, Fowler said she is filled with joy and relief as her daughter gears up for the next chapter of her life.
“I feel like my baby is now healed. She can finally be a normal kid and do all the things I felt she couldn’t do before,” Fowler explained.

To celebrate SaMiyah’s triumphant milestone, doctors surprised her with a special Princess Tiana doll. The perfect gift, it’s a constant companion to stick by her as she journeys to the next phase of her little life, already having accomplished so much. Fowler said she is ecstatic, with plans to enjoy every minute of this second chance with her daughter.
“There’s no limitations now. There’s no stopping us. We can go out here and have the best time. I’m so excited,” she said.
