Tracy Morgan is opening up about his daughter, Maven!
While appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Tracy Morgan brought up his past coma and how his daughter helped him recover from it.
In 2014, Morgan was in a truck crash that placed him in a two-week coma and took the life of his friend and fellow comic, James McNair.
“She’s the reason why I live, man,” he said on the show. “I came out of that coma for her. She was only 10 months old, man. So I had to come out of that coma to be with my daughter. So, she’s great.”
This isn’t the first time he’s shared this sentiment about his daughter. He appeared on “Today” in 2021 and spoke about his near-death experience.
“People don’t just come out of comas,” Morgan told Hoda Kotb. “I had to fight. I knew I had to be here for her. I wanted to see my daughter. I’ve always wanted a daughter and have a female version of me. And I’m looking at it every day as she grows under my gaze. And I love her.”
He added, “She’s very close to me. We’re very close. She’s my baby.” According to Morgan, Maven wants to be an actress and even appears in his show, “The Last O.G.” He referred to her as his “greatest costar ever” and said that the coma gave him a new perspective on the importance of family.
“I just want to leave a legacy,” he said. “When I’m long gone, I want them to go to my star in Hollywood and say, ‘That’s my grandpa.’ My great-great-great-grandkids. ‘That’s my grandfather.’ Make them build on top of that.”
