Now, this is inclusion!
Ar’miah is a 12-year-old motivational speaker and content creator diagnosed as visually impaired at just six months old. An advocate for other differently-abled youth who shares her journey through faith-based content, Ar’miah has racked up nearly 700,000 followers on Instagram alone. Last month, Ar’miah was given a gift from Aille Design, a fashion brand that creates intricate braille beadwork products. Elated to unbox her new product, Ar’miah’s mom shared the heartwarming moment that her daughter opened the first Blind Barbie Fashionista doll.
“Guess what! You have a surprise in this box right here, girlfriend,” Ar’miah’s mom says excitedly.

Ar’miah then opens the box meticulously, revealing the pink box before stopping to read the braille logo.
“Ohhhh, it says Barbie!” Ar’miah exclaimed.
She went on to open the contents, reading each card insert, completely elated that it was all in braille.
“This says, ‘We are Barbie. Most diverse doll line,’” read Ar’miah.
“How do you wish to be seen? When we learn about those around us, we, in turn, learn even more about ourselves,” Ar’miah continued.
She then pulled out the highlight product, revealing the first ever Blind Barbie, outfitted with a cute pink top and purple skirt set.
Ar’miah was ecstatic to read all about what Barbie was wearing and over the moon to know that her new doll came complete with a white cane for mobility, just like the one she uses.
“You feel the cane now, boo, since we put it on there,” Ar’miah’s mom asked.
“Yes, Mommy, it’s in her hand. She has a cane, just like my cane mom!… Thank you so much, Barbie,” said Ar’miah.
Barbie partnered with the American Foundation for the Blind to release the doll, with Aille Design creating the fashion collection in tandem with the doll’s rollout, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity for all. The doll features sunglasses, a cane with a marshmallow tip, and textured fabrics that enhance the sensory experience alongside easy-to-open braille packaging. Blind teen actor Alexa Canepa will voice the new Blind Barbie doll in the upcoming episodes of Barbie Doll Adventures on YouTube. Already, the doll has become a hit with other visually impaired youth.
Yep, we’re crying again.
