Tennis champion Coco Gauff is a multi-millionaire due to her tennis winnings over the past several years.
The 19-year-old Atlanta, Georgia, native recently crossed the $10 million mark after becoming the first American teenager to win the US Open since Serena Williams.
Gauff earned $3 million after winning her first-ever major title, which brought her overall price money to $11.1 million. She beat Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 and locked in the historic win, which moved her from No. 6 to No. 3 in the world.
In a post-win interview, Gauff praised another tennis great — Serena Williams.
“Serena is Serena,” she said. “She’s the GOAT. I’d hope to do half of what she did. But I’m not gonna compare myself to her.”
She continued, “She’s my idol. The only regret I’ll have for the rest of my life is not being able to play her. There were so many tournaments where if we won an extra round and didn’t lose, I would’ve played her. But I’m still happy to just be a product of her legacy and be out here for American tennis.”
Before the US Open win, Gauff also won prize money from winning one singles title and two doubles titles in 2019.
According to Forbes, it’s also estimated that she has made $12 million from endorsements, appearance fees, and other business endeavors over the last 12 months. This number is including her total income before taxes and agents’ fees.
Forbes has Gauff as the seventh highest-paid tennis player in the world.
In addition to Gauff’s deals with New Balance and racket maker Head, she also has partnerships with six other brands. Baker Tilly, Bose and UPS joined her list of partners in 2023.
