Meet Kobe Harris, the Founder of KOBEE’S, an All-Natural, Handmade Lip Balm Brand

KOBEES lip balms, lip scrubs, and cuticle butters aren’t just saving our dry, cracked skin, they’re also saving the planet. “I started KOBEES with the idea of creating a simpler, cleaner plastic-free alternative because the best plastic is no plastic,” founder and CEO Kobe Harris said via Instagram. “I’m sick of bad ingredients, companies telling us one thing and selling us another. We want to take out the guesswork and make something that actually benefits you and your skin.” Harris was a college student at Loyola Chicago when he got the idea to start the lip care brand after seeing the pollution in and around the big city. With KOBEES, he aims to help clean our oceans and lakes, planting trees and reducing deforestation, and providing cleaner air for future generations. To do this, the young entrepreneur is using proceeds from KOBEES to support non-profit organizations that share his commitment to the environment. All of KOBEES products are all-natural and handmade, using only four ingredients: beeswax, sunflower seed oil, mango butter, and coconut oil. And the packaging is 100 percent compostable. Starting at just $5 for a tube of lip balm, they promise to keep your lips nice and smooth while keeping a piece of plastic out of the environment. “We want whoever is supporting KOBEE’S to understand that they are making a difference for the environment. It doesn’t matter how small- whether it’s through carrying a water bottle, buying paper straws, or purchasing a single tube of KOBEE’S- it all makes a difference,” Harris says on the company website. “One small change is all it takes. BEE the difference. BEE the change.” Black-owned, good for your body and good for the planet? What more could you ask for?
